Almora: Dwarahat MLA Madan Bisht, while addressing a press conference at the Congress office in Almora, strongly criticized the state government’s functioning and raised concerns over the effectiveness of multi-purpose public service camps being organized across the region.
Bisht stated that the recent multi-purpose public service camp held in Dwarahat highlighted several administrative shortcomings. According to him, such camps were originally designed to provide immediate solutions to public grievances, but they are gradually losing their relevance as citizens are no longer receiving the expected benefits.
He remarked that in earlier years, these camps witnessed large public participation because people believed their problems would be addressed efficiently. However, public confidence has declined due to the lack of effective grievance redressal mechanisms and poor follow-up action.
The MLA also alleged that political interference has increasingly become visible in government-sponsored events. He questioned the involvement of individuals who, according to him, do not hold any official administrative position but continue to play prominent roles during government programmes.
During the press conference, Bisht also highlighted concerns regarding recruitment examination controversies and alleged paper leak incidents in the state. He said that repeated irregularities in recruitment processes have severely affected the confidence of young job aspirants. Thousands of students spend years preparing for competitive examinations, and any compromise in transparency directly impacts their future.
He further criticized the government over issues such as unemployment and rising inflation, stating that these remain among the biggest challenges facing the people of the state. According to him, employment opportunities have not increased at the desired pace, while the rising cost of living has placed additional burdens on ordinary citizens.
The Congress leader also raised questions regarding the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and other developmental schemes. He claimed that despite significant financial investments, several projects have not delivered the expected results on the ground. He demanded greater accountability and regular monitoring of public welfare programmes.
Congress leaders present at the press conference echoed similar concerns and urged the government to focus on issues affecting youth, unemployed citizens, and rural communities. They called for transparent recruitment processes, better governance, and improved implementation of development schemes.
Concluding the press conference, Madan Bisht said that the opposition would continue to raise public issues and hold the government accountable. He emphasized that democratic institutions function effectively only when citizens’ concerns are heard and addressed in a transparent and responsible manner.
