Almora: The much-awaited Kumaon Mahotsav 2026 will be organized from June 20 to June 30 at GIC Ground, Almora, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, music and artistic excellence of the Kumaon region. The details of the festival were shared during a press conference attended by members of the organizing committee.
The event is being organized by Shri Ram Samiti, Almora, with the aim of preserving and promoting Uttarakhand’s cultural identity while providing a platform for emerging talent.
Speaking at the press conference, Committee President Rajendra Tiwari said that the festival is not merely an entertainment event but a cultural movement dedicated to connecting the younger generation with their roots. He emphasized that children and youth are given ample opportunities to showcase their talent through various competitions and performances.
Chief Convener Harish Kanwal presented the complete outline of the festival and informed that the eleven-day event will feature open mic sessions, music competitions, dance contests, cultural evenings, poetry gatherings, fashion events and star-night performances. Renowned artists as well as local performers will participate in the festival.
Among those present at the press conference were Advisor Vineet Bisht, Cultural Coordinator Devendra Bhatt Rikki, Vice President Deepak Kumar, Secretary Vaibhav Pandey, Programme Coordinators Harshita Tiwari and Shagun Tyagi, Women’s Vice President Pratibha Bhatt, Vikas Singh, Virendra Joshi, Media Coordinators Pradeep Mehta and Rohan Kumar, and Deputy Secretary Aniruddh Pandey.
A major highlight of this year’s festival will be the special emphasis on local artisans, handicrafts and small businesses. Organizers said that more space is being allocated to local traders, self-help groups and traditional craft exhibitors, helping promote regional products and strengthen the local economy.
Competition Coordinator Virendra Joshi stated that various talent-based events will encourage young participants to display their creativity and skills. Open Mic Coordinator Vikas Kumar added that the platform will provide aspiring singers, poets, speakers and performers an opportunity to interact with a wider audience.
The organizers also expressed gratitude to the District Magistrate, district administration and Almora Municipal Corporation for their support and cooperation in making the event possible.
With a diverse lineup of cultural programs, traditional performances and community participation, Kumaon Mahotsav 2026 is expected to become one of the most significant cultural celebrations in the region, promoting heritage, talent and local entrepreneurship on a grand scale.
