In an effort to make the town cleaner and more environmentally friendly, the Almora Municipal Corporation conducted a special cleanliness awareness campaign in Dubkiyan Mohalla and Johari Bazaar Lane.
As part of the initiative, municipal officials and sanitation workers visited households and distributed separate bins for biodegradable (wet) and non-biodegradable (dry) waste. The campaign aimed to encourage residents to adopt proper waste segregation practices at the source.
The drive was led by local councillor Anju Bisht along with the Municipal Corporation team. During the campaign, residents were educated about the importance of environmental conservation and responsible waste disposal. People were urged not to throw garbage on roads, open spaces, or in drains and instead hand over their waste to the corporation’s door-to-door collection vehicles.
Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Anju Bisht said that maintaining cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation but a collective duty of every citizen. She emphasized that separating wet and dry waste would significantly improve the efficiency of waste management and recycling processes.
Municipal officials highlighted that proper waste segregation helps reduce environmental pollution, supports recycling efforts, and ensures better sanitation across the city. They also informed residents about the health benefits associated with proper waste disposal and cleaner surroundings.
The campaign received active support from municipal staff members, including Rajpal Pawar, Deepak Nayak, Krishnan, Bunty, and other sanitation workers who played a key role in implementing the initiative.
Residents welcomed the campaign and appreciated the efforts being made to improve cleanliness in the area. The Municipal Corporation stated that similar awareness and waste segregation drives will continue in other wards to promote a cleaner, greener, and healthier Almora.
