Almora: The ICAR–Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Almora, has signed a four-year technology licensing agreement with Doon Trunk House, Almora, for the commercial production and marketing of its indigenously developed VL Light Trap technology. The agreement was formalised on 4 August 2026 as part of the institute’s efforts to transfer innovative agricultural technologies directly to farmers.
Under the agreement, Doon Trunk House will manufacture and distribute the environmentally friendly and low-cost pest management device in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. The initiative is expected to provide farmers with a safe, sustainable, and affordable alternative for effective pest control.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Dr. Lakshmi Kant said that the commercialisation of agricultural research is among the institute’s key priorities. He expressed confidence that the VL Light Trap technology would help farmers adopt eco-friendly and cost-effective pest management practices while improving agricultural productivity.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Nirmal Kumar Hedau, Chairman of the Intellectual Property and Technology Management Cell, and Dr. Krishna Kant Mishra, Head of the Crop Protection Division. Representing Doon Trunk House were Mohammad Saleem and Mohammad Salman. The institute reaffirmed its commitment to promoting innovation-driven agricultural technologies for the benefit of the farming community.
