Almora: District Magistrate Anshul Singh on Friday held a meeting with concerned officials, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and designated nodal officers regarding the successful implementation of the Special Intensive Revision Programme 2026.
The meeting was held at the VC Hall of the Collectorate, where the District Magistrate instructed officials to carry out the voter list revision process with complete seriousness, transparency, and efficiency as per the schedule issued by the Election Commission of India. He directed all departments to ensure timely completion of every stage of the programme.
During the meeting, officials informed that the printing of enumeration forms and training of personnel would be completed between May 29 and June 7, 2026. Thereafter, from June 8 to July 7, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would conduct door-to-door visits for the distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
The District Magistrate emphasized that proper training of BLOs is essential for the smooth conduct of the revision programme. He instructed all registration officers to ensure that their subordinate BLOs receive adequate and timely training.
Highlighting the importance of an error-free voter list, the DM stated that a transparent and accurate electoral roll is the backbone of a strong democratic system. He directed officials to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list and that complaints or discrepancies are resolved within the stipulated time frame.
Officials also informed that the draft electoral roll would be published on July 14, 2026. The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from July 14 to August 13, 2026. The disposal of claims and objections will continue till September 11, while the final electoral roll will be published on September 15, 2026.
The District Magistrate instructed officials to work in coordination and fulfill the objectives of the Election Commission. He also directed that pending voter mapping work be completed without delay and warned that negligence or laxity in the process would not be tolerated.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate Yukta Mishra, Municipal Commissioner Seema Vishwakarma, SDM Sadar Sanjay Kumar, SDM Bhanoli Soumya Garbyal and other officials, while officers from remote areas joined virtually.
