Almora: Members of the Uttarakhand Youth Congress staged a strong protest against the BJP government at Gandhi Park in Almora on Friday over the cancellation of the NEET 2026 examination. During the protest, workers burned an effigy of the government and raised slogans against corruption and repeated paper leak incidents in the education system.
Youth Congress leaders termed the cancellation of the NEET examination not merely an administrative failure but a “murder of the dreams of millions of students.” They alleged that the government has failed to protect the future of young students and has allowed organized corruption to spread within the examination system.
The leaders stated that more than 2.2 million students across the country had worked tirelessly to prepare for the examination. Many parents reportedly took loans or faced financial hardships to support their children’s education and coaching expenses. However, the cancellation of the exam has pushed students into uncertainty and mental stress.
Addressing the gathering, Youth Congress leader Gopal Bhatt said that the so-called “Amrit Kaal” of the government has turned into a “poisonous period” for the youth of the country. He alleged that hard work and merit are losing value while corruption and influence are dominating the system.
He demanded a judicial inquiry into the NEET paper leak case and strict action against officials and paper leak mafias involved in the scandal. He also demanded financial and psychological relief for affected students and called for the implementation of a transparent and accountable examination system.
Youth Congress district president Vikram Singh Fartyal said that under the current government, almost every major examination has faced allegations of corruption or irregularities. He claimed that students and parents are losing faith in the education system due to repeated paper leak incidents.
The protesters warned that if the government fails to take concrete steps, the agitation would be intensified across the state. Demonstrators raised slogans demanding justice for students and stricter measures to prevent future paper leaks.
Several Youth Congress workers and senior leaders, including Narayan Dutt Pandey and many others, were present during the protest.
