Dwarahat: The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) and Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), organized by 77 UK Battalion NCC, Almora, commenced on June 9 at Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology (BTKIT), Dwarahat. Around 500 NCC cadets from various educational institutions are participating enthusiastically in the camp and undergoing intensive training.
The camp was inaugurated by Commanding Officer Colonel Jitendra Sharma. Addressing the cadets, he highlighted the objectives of the National Cadet Corps and emphasized the importance of discipline, leadership, character building, and youth participation in nation-building. He encouraged the cadets to make the best use of the training opportunities provided during the camp.
Colonel Sharma informed the participants about various NCC subjects, military fundamentals, leadership skills, and the significance of teamwork and responsibility in public life. He stated that NCC serves as an important platform for shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.
One of the key attractions of the camp is training in modern military technologies. Cadets are being introduced to drone operations and their practical applications in surveillance, security, disaster management, and modern warfare. The training aims to familiarize young cadets with emerging technologies increasingly used in defense and civil administration.
The camp also includes .22 rifle firing and simulator firing sessions, where cadets are learning marksmanship techniques and firearm safety measures under expert supervision. Regular drill practices, parade training, physical exercises, and yoga sessions are being conducted to enhance physical fitness, mental strength, and discipline among participants.
Health and hygiene awareness programmes are also being organized as part of the training schedule. Experts are educating cadets about personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle practices, balanced nutrition, and environmental responsibility.
The primary objective of the camp is to develop discipline, confidence, leadership qualities, teamwork, and a spirit of national service among the cadets. Participants are actively engaging in all activities and gaining valuable exposure to various aspects of military life.
In the coming days, the camp will host competitions, cultural programmes, personality development sessions, group activities, and other interactive events aimed at nurturing talent and encouraging healthy competition among cadets.
The successful conduct of the camp is being supported by Administrative Officer Lieutenant Colonel J.C. Pant, Subedar Major Jagdish Singh Mehta, Captain Mahipal Singh, Captain Vinod Kumar, Captain Daya Rawat, Lieutenant Ashok Kumar, Second Officer Arjun Singh, Second Officer Heera Tamta, Janki Adhikari, Subedar Devendra Singh, Subedar Jagdish Singh, Naib Subedar Daljit Singh, Chandrashekhar, Kailash Chand, Chanchal Singh, Chandan Singh, Rajendra Singh, and other staff members.
Officials expressed confidence that the camp would play a significant role in the overall development of cadets and inspire them to contribute positively to society and the nation.
