Almora: Dubkiya ward under Almora Municipal Corporation has witnessed growing public anger over an alleged encroachment on a public pathway. Local residents, under the leadership of Municipal Councillor Anju Bisht, submitted a written complaint to the Municipal Commissioner and Mayor demanding immediate action against the alleged illegal construction.
According to the complaint filed by residents, a person identified as Javed Akhtar has allegedly encroached upon a public path in the area. Residents claim that the encroachment has obstructed access to a local temple and even the route used for funeral processions and last rites, causing major inconvenience to the public.
Locals stated that the pathway is an important public route that has been used by residents for years. Due to the alleged encroachment, the road has become narrower, creating difficulties in movement and increasing the risk of disputes and accidents in the area.
Under the leadership of Councillor Anju Bisht, residents demanded that the Municipal Corporation immediately conduct a spot inspection and remove the encroachment if found illegal. They stressed that public pathways should remain accessible for all citizens without obstruction.
Taking serious note of the complaint, Ajay Verma directed the Municipal Commissioner to conduct a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter. The Mayor instructed officials to investigate the issue without any pressure or bias and ensure immediate action if encroachment on public land is confirmed.
Mayor Ajay Verma stated that protecting public property and ensuring smooth public access are among the primary responsibilities of the Municipal Corporation. He assured residents that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.
Councillor Anju Bisht said that residents have been facing difficulties for a long time due to the alleged encroachment. She warned that if timely action is not taken, local residents may be forced to launch a public protest movement.
A large number of residents and local representatives were present during the submission of the complaint, including members of Devbhoomi Udyog Vyapar Mandal and several social activists and community members.
