Dwarahat, Almora: The third day of the 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) and TSC training camp organized by 77 UK Battalion NCC, Almora, at Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology (BTKIT), Dwarahat, was conducted with great enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication despite continuous heavy rainfall in the region.
The camp, which commenced on June 9, is being held under the able leadership of Commanding Officer Colonel Jitendra Sharma. Around 500 NCC cadets from various educational institutions are participating in the training programme aimed at developing leadership, discipline, patriotism, and life skills among young cadets.
Even though the weather remained challenging throughout the day, the cadets continued their scheduled training activities without any loss of enthusiasm. Their commitment and determination reflected the true spirit of the National Cadet Corps.
The day’s training included drill sessions, .22 rifle training, drone operation and applications, disaster management exercises, yoga, physical fitness sessions, and lectures on various military subjects. These activities are designed to prepare cadets both physically and mentally while enhancing their leadership qualities.
The drone training session attracted significant interest among the cadets. Trainers explained the operational aspects of drones and their applications in surveillance, disaster response, and modern defence systems. Cadets actively participated and gained valuable exposure to emerging technologies.
Disaster management training was another important component of the camp. Cadets were trained in emergency response techniques, rescue operations, and basic disaster preparedness, particularly relevant for a mountainous state like Uttarakhand.
Drill Instructor Rajendra Singh and other trainers conducted intensive drill and guard training sessions, focusing on discipline, teamwork, command execution, and parade standards. The cadets displayed commendable performance and eagerness to learn.
Yoga and physical training sessions were also organized to promote mental resilience, physical fitness, and overall well-being. Instructors emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental strength for future leaders and responsible citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Commanding Officer Colonel Jitendra Sharma appreciated the dedication shown by the cadets despite adverse weather conditions. He stated that NCC training is not only about military orientation but also about shaping responsible, disciplined, and socially conscious citizens.
The camp administration informed that various competitions, cultural programmes, personality development activities, and leadership-based events will be organized in the coming days to ensure the holistic development of cadets.
Among those present were Administrative Officer Lieutenant Colonel J.C. Pant, Subedar Major Jagdish Singh Mehta, Captain Mahipal Singh, Captain Krishnanand, Captain Vinod Kumar, Captain Daya Rawat, Lieutenant Ashok Kumar, Second Officer Arjun Singh, Second Officer Hira Tamta, Janki Adhikari, along with military and PI staff members.
The third day of the camp successfully demonstrated that dedication, discipline, and commitment can overcome even the toughest weather conditions. The enthusiasm shown by the cadets continues to inspire confidence in the future of India’s youth leadership and nation-building efforts.
