Young talents from across Uttarakhand mesmerize with stellar dance performances
Almora. The State-Level Dance Championship, held as part of the grand Kumaon Mahotsav, offered a cultural feast to dance enthusiasts and showcased the vibrant talent of Uttarakhand’s youth. Participants from various districts lit up the stage with their energetic and creative performances.
In the Junior Wing, Kavya Bisht clinched the first position with a captivating performance that won over the judges with its rhythm, expression, and choreography. Vansh Kumar secured the second place, while Paridhi Bhakuni earned the third spot, both leaving a strong impression with their artistry and flair.
The Senior Wing witnessed even stiffer competition. Shyam Kumar took home the first prize, followed by Mohit Thakur in second place. The third position was jointly awarded to Saumya Sanwal and Sumit Kumar, who delivered electrifying performances in various dance genres including folk, freestyle, contemporary, and Bollywood.
The panel of distinguished judges featured some of the most renowned names in Indian and regional dance. Among them was Hansvi Tonk, recognized as one of India’s finest classical and contemporary dancers; Mubarak Mark, a well-known choreographer from Uttarakhand; and Lakhan Kumar, recipient of the T-Series Best Choreographer Award. The jury commended the event, emphasizing the importance of such platforms in nurturing budding talent and promoting cultural richness.
The event drew a large and enthusiastic audience, who cheered the performers throughout the competition. Organizers noted the overwhelming response and shared plans to scale up the event in the coming years to provide even greater exposure and opportunities to the region’s young performers.
This edition of the Kumaon Mahotsav proved to be not only a celebration of art and dance but also a testament to Uttarakhand’s growing cultural landscape.
