Almora :
Vice Chairman of the Irrigation Advisory Committee, Rishi Kandwal, chaired a review meeting of the Almora irrigation division and its sub-divisions on Friday. The meeting was held at a local hotel conference hall in Almora, where Kandwal assessed the status of ongoing irrigation projects and issued key directives to departmental officials.
Addressing the gathering, Kandwal stressed that all departmental works must maintain both quality and cost-effectiveness. He urged officials to conduct field visits to understand the irrigation needs of agricultural regions and draft project proposals that maximize benefits for the farming community.
He further instructed that coordination with local public representatives is essential to ensure timely resolution of ground-level issues. “The projects must reflect the sentiments of the people,” he stated, adding that public participation and feedback should guide priorities.
Project Updates and Developments
Executive Engineer Mohan Singh Rawat informed the Vice Chairman that Almora Irrigation Division oversees four sub-divisions, including 128 operational canals. Disaster mitigation projects are currently underway across the region.
Assistant Engineer Prashant Pant added that under a special Chief Minister’s Announcement, a barrage is proposed at Nan/Chhoti Kosi. A preliminary survey is in progress. Additionally, a spiritual walkway (Tapsya Path) is planned near Kakrighat, for which project estimates are being prepared.
Kandwal reiterated that all proposed works should align with public expectations and be executed with urgency and transparency.
