The campaign began on May 14 with a three-day awareness drive on “Child Marriage-Free Uttarakhand” (May 14–16). During this campaign, awareness camps, rallies, and street plays are being conducted in both rural and urban areas to educate the public about the legal and social consequences of child marriage.
Following this, a two-day campaign titled “Child Labour-Free Uttarakhand” will be held on May 17 and 18, aimed at sensitizing the community about the rights of children and the prohibition of child labour. On May 19 and 20, a campaign titled “Udaan – Freedom from Exploitation” will focus on creating awareness against various forms of child and human exploitation.
On May 21 and 22, a two-day campaign will be conducted under the NALSA Scheme 2024 for Child-Friendly Legal Services and NALSA Scheme 2024 for Legal Services to Persons with Mental and Intellectual Disabilities. This campaign will address legal awareness and access to justice for these vulnerable sections of society.
Further, on May 23 and 24, a two-day campaign themed “Road Safety, Life Safety” will emphasize traffic rules, pedestrian awareness, and accident prevention. On May 25 and 26, the focus will shift to “Safe Medicines: Safe Life”, promoting awareness about the proper use and regulation of medicines.
The campaign will culminate with a one-day drive on May 31 titled “Tobacco-Free Devbhoomi Uttarakhand”, aimed at educating people about the harmful effects of tobacco and encouraging its eradication.
Through these multi-thematic awareness campaigns, the District Legal Services Authority aims to reach out to schools, colleges, and the general public, educating them about their legal rights, social responsibilities, and ways to lead a safe and informed life. The overarching goal of the initiative is to empower every section of society with access to legal support and awareness.
