Manthara-Kaikeyi and Dasharath-Kaikeyi dialogues highlight the third day; 10 lucky draw winners receive prizes
Almora: The third day of the historic Ramlila organised by Shri Laxmi Bhandar Hukka Club in Almora featured emotionally charged episodes from the Ramayana, drawing appreciation from the audience. The performances included the dialogues between Manthara and Kaikeyi, Dasharath and Kaikeyi, Rama and Lakshman, Rama, Lakshman and Sita, Rama and Kaushalya, and Lakshman and Sumitra.
Through expressive acting and compelling dialogue delivery, the performers brought the important episodes of the Ramayana to life, highlighting the values of sacrifice, duty, family relationships and righteousness.
The Manthara-Kaikeyi dialogue portrayed Manthara’s scheming nature and the doubts that gradually developed in Kaikeyi’s mind. The subsequent conversation between King Dasharath and Kaikeyi depicted the king’s helplessness and emotional anguish at the prospect of separation from his beloved son, Lord Rama.
The scenes featuring Rama, Lakshman and Sita highlighted their unwavering commitment to one another. Lord Rama’s respect for his parents’ wishes, Lakshman’s devotion to his elder brother, and Sita’s determination to accompany Rama through difficult times emerged as key themes of the evening.
The Rama-Kaushalya dialogue poignantly portrayed a mother’s affection and the pain associated with her son’s departure for exile. Similarly, the Lakshman-Sumitra dialogue conveyed the message of duty and devotion, as Sumitra encouraged Lakshman to serve Lord Rama and remain committed to the path of righteousness.
The performances received appreciation from spectators, who praised the artists for their portrayal of these timeless values. The event also reflected the continued importance of Almora’s traditional Ramlila in preserving the region’s cultural heritage and passing Indian traditions on to younger generations.
Dr. Santosh Bisht attended the programme as the chief guest. Nominated councillors Kailash Gururani and Beena Nainwal, along with councillors Neha Tamta and Meena Bhaisoda, were also present and encouraged the performers.
Office-bearers and members of Shri Laxmi Bhandar Hukka Club welcomed the guests and emphasised the institution’s continued efforts to preserve the traditional Ramlila. They noted that the event is not merely a religious celebration but also an important platform for promoting cultural heritage, social unity and traditional values.
Following the performance, the organisers held the customary daily lucky draw, in which 10 fortunate participants received prizes. The committee appealed to residents to attend the upcoming performances in large numbers and support the artists in keeping Almora’s historic cultural traditions alive.
Those present included committee president Dharanidhar Pandey, secretary Vineet Bisht, former councillor and Ramlila convenor Rajendra Tiwari, Tribhuvan Giri and Harshvardhan Verma, along with other committee members and prominent local residents.
