Municipal team clears debris; Jal Sansthan installs alternative pipeline after a week-long water crisis
Almora: Heavy rainfall has caused damage to roads and disrupted basic services at several locations in the city. Residents of an affected area had been facing serious inconvenience after a road was damaged by the rain and the local water supply was disrupted for nearly a week.
Taking note of the problem, Municipal Councillor Meera Mishra contacted the concerned departments and facilitated the immediate deployment of teams from the Municipal Corporation and Jal Sansthan to the affected location.
Following the councillor’s efforts, a Municipal Corporation team reached the spot and removed the debris that had accumulated on the damaged road. The clearance work provided relief to local residents by improving access and movement along the affected stretch.
At the same time, the heavy rainfall and damage to the road had also resulted in the breakage of water connections and pipelines supplying nearby households. As a result, residents had reportedly been without a regular water supply for around one week.
Considering the seriousness of the drinking water shortage, the Jal Sansthan team was called to the spot. Officials inspected the damaged water connections and pipeline network and subsequently installed a pipeline to provide an alternative water supply arrangement to the affected households.
Residents said that the prolonged disruption had created considerable difficulties in their daily lives. With no regular water supply at home, families were forced to arrange water from other sources. The situation was particularly difficult during the period of heavy rainfall, when movement in the area was already affected because of the damaged road and accumulated debris.
Local residents welcomed the prompt intervention and expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by Councillor Meera Mishra, as well as the teams of the Municipal Corporation and Jal Sansthan.
Councillor Meera Mishra said that the issue was brought to her notice by residents following the damage caused by heavy rainfall. She immediately coordinated with the concerned departments so that the debris could be removed and an alternative water supply could be arranged without further delay.
She said that while immediate relief had been provided, permanent repairs to the damaged road and water pipeline would also be important to prevent residents from facing similar problems in the future. She added that coordination with the concerned departments would continue to ensure that basic civic facilities are restored at the earliest.
Residents have also urged the authorities to undertake permanent repair work on the damaged road and water pipeline at the earliest. They said that timely action is essential during the monsoon season to prevent disruption of essential services and ensure the safety and convenience of local residents.
