Efforts of the Institute Appreciated by Ministry of Home Affairs Official; Call for Active Participation from Member Offices
Almora. The 24th biannual meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (NARAKAS), Almora, was held on July 23, 2025, at ICAR – Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director of the Institute and Chairman of NARAKAS. Mr. Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, Assistant Director (Implementation), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, was present as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Chaudhary highly appreciated the institute’s efforts for the promotion and effective implementation of the Official Language Hindi. He emphasized that other member offices should also enhance the use of Hindi and sincerely adhere to the rules laid down by the Department of Official Language. He urged all offices to ensure active participation in the “Inspiration and Encouragement” awards. While reviewing the biannual progress reports, he called upon all offices to align their activities with the inspection standards of the Parliamentary Committee.
Chairman Dr. Lakshmi Kant expressed satisfaction over the positive progress in the use of Hindi in member offices. He stated that the primary goal of the committee is to promote the use of Hindi in official work and to regularly monitor its implementation. He specifically appreciated those offices that have made notable progress in this regard, stating that such efforts can serve as an inspiration for others. He also welcomed the continuous improvement in the quality of presentations.
Program Organization and Participation
The program commenced with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Dr. Nirmal Kumar Hedau, Head of Division (Crop Improvement). This was followed by brief introductions from representatives of all member offices. Subsequently, Member Secretary and Chief Technical Officer, Mrs. Renu Sanwal, presented a progress report on the previous meeting’s proceedings and shared details about the Official Language Annual Program 2025–26. She also informed that the registration of all NARAKAS member offices on the Department of Official Language’s website has been completed, and biannual progress reports from all offices have been received by the Chairman’s office—a significant achievement.
