On January 21, 2026, a workshop was organized at the Municipal Corporation Hall, Almora, under the “Government at the Doorstep of the People” campaign with the objective of extending benefits of the Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan Scheme (PM-SYM) and NPS–Traders Scheme to the general public. The workshop was jointly organized by the Almora Municipal Corporation in coordination with the Panchayati Raj Department, Labour Department and Employment Department.
The workshop was organized and conducted by City Mission Manager Mrs. Shanta Gururani, who provided detailed information to the participants about all the currently running government schemes and their benefits.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Mayor Mr. Ajay Verma emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that welfare schemes reach even the last person in society. He also assured the public that difficulties faced in availing benefits under various schemes would be resolved promptly.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mr. Laxman Bhandari and Administrative Officer Mr. Mukesh Bhandari informed the attendees about the resolution of issues related to land records under the NAKSHA Project, housing schemes, land ownership records (Khata-Khatoni), and the preparation of birth and death certificates.
Assistant District Panchayati Raj Officer Mr. Ramesh Chandra apprised the participants about fisheries schemes and pension schemes being implemented in rural and panchayat areas.
Labour and Enforcement Officer Mr. Rajendra Bisht provided comprehensive information regarding the Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan Scheme, e-Shram Card, and welfare schemes for construction workers.
From the Employment Department, Mr. Manoj Bisht and Mr. Deepak Talk guided unemployed youth who have passed Class 10, Class 12, and graduation regarding registration, employment opportunities in government and private sectors, and various competitive examinations.
The workshop was attended by Administrative Officer Mr. Mukesh Bhandari, Assistant District Panchayati Raj Officer Mr. Ramesh Chandra, Mr. Deepak Talk, officials from the JNUM office including Mr. Ramesh Chandra Tiwari, Ms. Deepa Joshi, Ms. Geeta Bhatt, and around 45 citizens who participated to gain information about government welfare schemes.
