Almora – Under the directions of the Hon’ble Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority and the guidance of Hon’ble Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Mr. Shrikant Pandey, a two-day legal awareness campaign titled “Child Labour-Free Uttarakhand” was inaugurated on May 17, 2025. The campaign, being conducted from May 17 to 18, 2025, is being led by Ms. Shachi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Almora.
As part of the campaign, legal awareness camps and street plays were organized at Green Field Public School and the Faculty of Education, Soban Singh Jeena University on May 17. Secretary Shachi Sharma flagged off an awareness rally at Green Field Public School, marking the official commencement of the campaign.
The camps began with the NALSA theme song “Ek Mutthi Aasmaan”. During the sessions, students were educated about the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, Child Helpline Number 1098, the National Legal Services Authority’s toll-free number 15100, and the Police Helpline 112.
At the Faculty of Education, detailed information was also provided regarding the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Pamphlets and posters related to the campaign theme “Child Labour-Free Uttarakhand” were distributed to raise further awareness.
The camps concluded with the NALSA theme song once again. The sessions witnessed active participation from school principals, teachers, faculty heads, and legal volunteers including Mr. Pankaj Bhagat and Mr. Sandeep Nyal.
This initiative marks a significant step toward raising public awareness and encouraging collective efforts to eliminate child labour in the region.
