Organized by GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Over 30 Participants Took Part
Almora | Correspondent – A tree plantation program was organized at the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PITCUL) campus in Almora by the Govind Ballabh Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Kosi-Katarmal, Almora. The objective of the program was to raise awareness about environmental conservation and to promote a greener environment.
Senior Scientist and Coordinator of the institute, E.M.S. Lodhi, informed that flowering, fruit-bearing, shade-giving, fodder, and ornamental plants were planted around the PITCUL campus. Key species included bottlebrush, periwinkle, mulberry, oleander, bougainvillea, hibiscus, and chinar.
Forests Are Vital to Human Life – Dr. Mahesha Nand
Addressing the participants, Dr. Mahesha Nand, Program Officer (EIACP), highlighted the vital role of forests in human life. He emphasized adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle and drew attention to its long-term benefits.
PITCUL Executive Engineer Emphasizes Tree Protection
Manish Kumar Tamta, Executive Engineer of PITCUL, expressed gratitude to the organizers for selecting the PITCUL campus for the program. He stated that along with planting trees, their proper care is equally important and suggested installing protective guards around the plants. He urged everyone to plant more trees and contribute to environmental protection.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kamal Kishore Tamta (EIACP), who expressed appreciation to all the participants. The program was successfully conducted by Hem Tiwari.
Among the attendees were members of the EIACP team and from PITCUL Almora, including Pushpa Dhaulani Rautela (Office Superintendent), Madhur Kumar Radhi (Junior Engineer), and Mahendra Singh Bisht (Junior Engineer), with a total participation of over 30 individuals.
Dr. I.D. Bhatt, Executive Director of the Institute, appreciated the initiative, describing such environmental awareness programs as essential, and encouraged active participation in similar activities in the future.
