On the eve of the traditional folk festival Harela, a tree plantation drive was organized at Lalta Prasad Tamta Bal Vinod Vatika, located in Gandhi Park, Chaughanpata, under the auspices of the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Sub-Service Centre, Almora. During the event, a collective resolution was taken to ensure regular care and watering of the newly planted saplings.
Speakers at the event emphasized that protecting nature is a shared responsibility. They highlighted that tree plantation is not just a ritual, but a valuable gift to future generations. The Government of India and the Government of Uttarakhand are running several environmental awareness campaigns such as Eco Club for Mission LiFE, One Tree in Mother’s Name, and Tree My Friend, which are proving to be effective initiatives.
Gandhi Park, where the event was held, is a popular place in Almora where people come for morning and evening walks and to relax in a peaceful environment. The park also features a long-standing statue of Mahatma Gandhi and hosts various cultural and social programs throughout the year.
The tree plantation campaign by the Brahma Kumaris was widely appreciated by local residents, who praised the initiative as commendable and inspiring.

Durgapal, Savitri Bisht, Lata Sah, Geeta Adhikari, Rajni Pant, Asha Sah, Kamla Verma, Kanchan Verma, Meenu Sah, Radhika Sah, Sunita Pandey, Bhagirathi, Kamla Verma, and Hemendra Joshi.
