Under the guidance of Hon’ble Shri Shrikant Pandey, District Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Almora, and as per the directions of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, a special awareness program, extensive tree plantation drive, and cleanliness campaign were organized in the Almora District Court premises on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The program commenced with tree plantation by Shri Shrikant Pandey, who addressed the gathering of judicial officers, advocates, and staff, highlighting the significance of World Environment Day, observed globally on June 5 each year. He emphasized the importance of environmental protection, stating that all human needs are directly or indirectly dependent on nature. However, due to uncontrolled development and human greed, ecological imbalance is rising, adversely affecting natural resources like water, forests, land, and the atmosphere.
Shri Pandey appealed to every citizen to contribute to environmental protection by planting at least one sapling at their homes.

All of them participated in the tree plantation activity, showing their commitment to the cause.
Additionally, distinguished advocates, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), and court staff also planted trees and contributed to the cleanliness drive by cleaning the premises through collective efforts.
The initiative served as a commendable step toward raising awareness on environmental conservation and inspiring community participation in safeguarding nature.
