Local Residents Face Daily Inconvenience; Mayor Assures Prompt Action
Almora: Residents of Ranidhara Ward in Almora are facing significant trouble due to a recently constructed ramp (rapta) by the Municipal Corporation. Ward Councillor Asha Bisht has submitted a memorandum to Mayor Ajay Verma, demanding immediate rectification of the issue.
According to the memorandum, the ramp was built near the Ranidhara Naula area. However, due to a technical flaw in construction, the height of the ramp is excessive. As a result, four-wheelers often get stuck, causing damage to their chassis and silencers. This has led to growing frustration among the locals, along with the looming risk of accidents.
Councillor Bisht stated, “The public is suffering daily because of this poorly constructed ramp. Several vehicles have been damaged. What was meant to be a facility for the public has instead become a source of inconvenience.”
Local residents echoed the councillor’s concerns, pointing out that they have to cross the area daily and the ramp often causes their vehicles to scrape, leading to mechanical damage and financial loss. They have urged the Municipal Corporation to resolve the issue at the earliest.
After receiving the memorandum, Mayor Ajay Verma responded, “We take public grievances seriously. The issue in Ranidhara Ward will be addressed on a priority basis. A technical team will be dispatched to inspect the ramp. If any construction flaws are found, necessary corrections will be made without delay.”
Councillor Bisht expressed satisfaction over the mayor’s assurance and said she hopes the Municipal Corporation remains committed to public welfare and provides relief from this problem soon.
