A press conference was held today at Hotel Shivalik Inn by the “Hum Saathi Group” regarding their upcoming initiative titled “Our Elders, Our Heritage.” The event is being organised to honour senior citizens aged 85 years and above, in recognition of their lifelong contributions, wisdom, and experiences.
The press conference commenced with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Group General Secretary Manoj Sanwal, who shared that this is the first edition of the program, aimed at promoting respect and awareness for the elderly in society. He announced that 25 senior citizens aged above 85 years have been selected to be honoured in the first phase of the initiative, scheduled for June 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the main hall of Hotel Shivalik Inn. Those who could not be included this time will be recognised in subsequent editions of the program.
Chief Coordinator Kamal Kumar Bisht stated that Hum Saathi Group is running this campaign to bridge generational gaps and inspire youth through the life stories of senior citizens. “Elders are not a burden, but a blessing,” he said, adding that the event will serve as a platform for learning from their experiences and sacrifices.
Group member Ashish Verma informed that a dedicated volunteer team has been set up to monitor the health and well-being of elderly citizens by conducting home visits and collecting detailed information to ensure timely support and care.
Group Patron Raghav Pant emphasized that the entire initiative is being carried out through voluntary financial contributions and private resources. He termed the event as a living example of elder care and societal responsibility.
