Directs Officials to Ensure Quality and Timely Completion as Per Public Expectations

Mayor of Almora Municipal Corporation, Ajay Verma, along with local ward councillor Arjun Singh Bisht, conducted an inspection of the ongoing development work being carried out by the Irrigation Department in Gopaldhara, located in the Nanda Devi ward. The visit aimed to assess the progress and quality of work, while also providing an opportunity to hear grievances and suggestions directly from the local residents.
During the inspection, residents informed the Mayor about their concerns regarding the slow pace of construction and questioned the quality of materials being used. They also highlighted issues related to poor water drainage, which often leads to waterlogging during the rainy season.
Taking serious note of these complaints, Mayor Verma instructed the concerned department officials to prioritize the public’s convenience and ensure that all work is completed within the stipulated time frame without compromising on quality. He emphasized that transparency and accountability are essential, and warned that any negligence or substandard work would not be tolerated. He also mentioned the possibility of engaging a third-party quality audit to maintain construction standards.
The inspection was attended by officials from the Irrigation Department, Jal Sansthan, and the Municipal Corporation, who assured the Mayor that all necessary corrective actions would be implemented promptly. They also confirmed that special attention would be given to improving drainage systems and road durability in upcoming projects.
Councillor Arjun Singh Bisht expressed his commitment to resolving the issues of the area and stated that he, along with the public, will continue to monitor the development work closely. He encouraged residents to report any inconvenience or irregularity directly to the municipal authorities or their local representatives to ensure swift action.
Councillors Amit Sah ‘Monu’ and Shyam Pandey were also present during the inspection, along with junior engineers and officials from relevant departments. The local residents thanked the Mayor and councillors for their proactive approach and hoped for timely resolution of their concerns.
Concluding the visit, Mayor Ajay Verma reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to inclusive and high-quality development in every ward through regular monitoring, public participation, and strict adherence to standards.
