District Legal Services Authority, Almora Takes a Step Towards Environmental Conservation
Almora:
Under the directives of the Hon’ble Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, and the guidance of Hon’ble District Judge/Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Almora, Shrikant Pandey, a large-scale tree plantation programme was organized on 16th July 2025 at Simkani Ground and its surrounding areas as part of the ongoing Harela Mahotsav celebrations.
The event was led by Shachi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora. In celebration of Harela, the festival symbolizing greenery and environmental harmony, various fruit-bearing, shade-giving, and other beneficial trees were planted. To ensure the protection of the saplings, Tree Guards were installed with the support of the Equitable Earth Foundation, a Dehradun-based NGO.
Sharma addressed the attendees, raising awareness about the importance of trees, the collective responsibility of their care, and the broader significance of environmental conservation. She emphasized that planting trees is just the beginning—consistent care and protection are equally essential.
Representatives from the NGO, including Kartikeya, along with local dignitaries and Nyaya Mitras (Legal Aid Volunteers), also actively participated in the plantation drive. The event successfully spread a strong message of environmental awareness and received wide appreciation from the community.
