Almora,
On the occasion of World Population Day, a Legal Awareness Camp was organized on Friday at Vivekananda Inter College, Rani Dhara. The program aimed to educate students about the negative consequences of unchecked population growth and to inform them about key legal provisions related to public welfare and safety.
Students were made aware of the serious impacts of overpopulation, including unemployment, resource scarcity, environmental pollution, and social imbalance. In addition, detailed information was shared about the NALSA Scheme for Victims of Acid Attacks (2016), the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and the NALSA Legal Aid Helpline Number 15100.
As part of the Harela Festival celebrations, a tree plantation drive was conducted on the school premises, focusing on planting medicinal plants. The activity aimed to promote environmental conservation and awareness of herbal plant importance.
During the session, students were also introduced to the ongoing 90-day national campaign titled “Mediation for the Nation”, which began on July 1, 2025. The initiative seeks to promote alternative dispute resolution methods and raise awareness about the role of mediation in ensuring access to justice.
The event saw the gracious presence of the school Principal Mr. Mohan Singh Rawal, along with Legal Aid Volunteers Deepa Bhandari and Asha Bharti. Teachers and students actively participated in making the event a meaningful success.
