Breakthrough in Ongoing Drive to Apprehend Wanted Criminals Under SSP’s Directive
Almora: Under the strict directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha, Almora police have achieved significant success in the ongoing campaign to apprehend wanted criminals. The Kotwali Almora Police has arrested an accused involved in a large-scale bank fraud case, involving over ₹1 crore.
According to official sources, on April 14, 2025, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, Manager of The Nainital Bank Ltd, L.R. Sah Road, Almora, submitted a complaint stating that certain individuals had fraudulently conspired to increase the bank loan limit and availed loans amounting to ₹1,01,67,890, causing severe financial loss to the bank.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Kotwali Almora under Case No. 32/2025 with charges under Sections 318(4)/61(2)/316(5) of BNS.
Taking the matter seriously, under the supervision of Additional SP Harbans Singh and CO Gopal Datt Joshi, and the leadership of Inspector-in-Charge Yogesh Chandra Upadhyay, a police team was formed. After thorough surveillance and investigation, on May 17, 2025, the accused Rahul Pant (age 29), son of Hem Chandra Pant, resident of Tyunra, near Gopaldhara, Almora, was arrested from his residence.
