Municipal Councillor Anju Bisht sends letter to Irrigation Department demanding immediate action
Almora: Residents of Dubkiya Ward are facing severe inconvenience due to incomplete drainage construction in the area. In response to growing public concerns, Municipal Councillor Anju Bisht has submitted a formal letter to the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department, Almora, urging swift completion of the pending work.
According to reports, the drainage work was initiated near the residence of Govind Bisht, with only about 8 to 10 meters of the total required length constructed so far. However, 15 to 20 meters of the drain remain incomplete. Additionally, existing retaining walls have deteriorated, increasing the risk of flooding and damage during the monsoon season.
Extension up to pedestrian path requested
In her letter, Councillor Bisht has specifically requested that the drain construction be extended from Shambhu Singh’s house to Anand Lal Verma’s residence, and from Kalawati Chaudhary’s house to the pedestrian pathway above Priya Jaj’s house. She emphasized the urgent need for proper drainage infrastructure to prevent further hardship for the residents.
“People are already struggling with poor drainage, and the situation will only worsen once the rains begin,” Bisht stated. She urged the Irrigation Department to treat the matter as a top priority and complete the remaining construction at the earliest.
