Kalmatth revival in Shailguth village brings relief to locals; newly elected Panchayat member Kapil Malhotra takes swift action

In a commendable initiative towards local development, journalist and newly elected Gram Panchayat member Kapil Malhotra has taken his first significant step by addressing a long-pending civic issue in Shailguth village. By getting a vital kalmatth (underground drainage passage) reopened, which had remained clogged for nearly 15–20 years, he not only ensured road safety but also provided much-needed relief to the local residents.
As per reports, the blocked kalmatth had caused frequent waterlogging on the main road during the rainy season. This resulted in ponding on the road, creating potholes and impeding smooth movement for the public. The situation posed serious risks, especially for school children, senior citizens, and two-wheeler riders.
Local residents brought the matter to Kapil Malhotra’s attention. Responding swiftly, he approached officials from the National Highway Department and requested immediate cleaning and repair of the drainage system. Following his discussions, the department promptly initiated the necessary work and successfully restored the kalmatth in a short span of time.
This timely action generated enthusiasm and satisfaction among the villagers. Locals expressed their appreciation, stating that while the issue had been ignored for years, Malhotra’s proactive efforts led to a permanent resolution.
The community extended heartfelt thanks to Kapil Malhotra and the National Highway officials, emphasizing that if elected representatives consistently address public grievances with such urgency, rural regions can truly become part of mainstream development.
