Dr. Alaknanda Ashok Re-elected President, B.S. Mankoti as Secretary, Ram Avatar Appointed Treasurer

The election general assembly of the Uttaranchal State Badminton Association was held peacefully and unopposed yesterday in Almora on the concluding day of the Uttarakhand State Junior and Senior Badminton Championship.
Dr. Alaknanda Ashok was unanimously re-elected as the President, while B.S. Mankoti was once again chosen as the Secretary. Ram Avatar was unanimously elected as the Treasurer through a voice vote. The general assembly also authorized the President and Secretary to form the executive committee.
Delegates from across the state participated in the meeting. Some representatives who were unable to reach Almora due to adverse weather conditions attended the assembly virtually.
The assembly extended congratulations to the badminton players of Uttarakhand for their remarkable performance in national competitions. Both the men’s and women’s teams won silver medals in the team championship, marking a proud moment for the state. In total, Uttarakhand athletes secured six medals.
It was decided during the assembly that special training camps would be organized for selected players ahead of upcoming national championships. These camps will involve expert coaches, trainers, and physiotherapists.
The assembly also resolved that next year’s East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship would be hosted in Almora. Additionally, a request will be made to the Badminton Association of India to organize the National Senior Championship in Dehradun.
The meeting was chaired by Ashok Kumar, Chief Patron of the Uttaranchal State Badminton Association (former DGP of Uttarakhand and Vice Chancellor, Sports University, Rai, Haryana). He shared valuable suggestions for the development of badminton and extended best wishes to the newly formed executive committee. He also congratulated the District Badminton Association, Almora, for successfully organizing the grand championship.
