Health camp to be organized after panchayat elections, assures DM Alok Kumar Pandey
Almora.
Kapil Malhotra, a member of the Gram Panchayat of Shailguth, located near the Nagar (urban) area in the Hawalbagh development block, met with District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey to discuss the lack of basic health services and various local issues. On this occasion, Malhotra submitted a formal request letter, urging the administration to organize a health camp in the village at the earliest.
The letter highlighted that Shailguth is a remote hilly village facing a serious lack of medical facilities. Villagers are compelled to travel long distances even for basic health check-ups, causing inconvenience and financial burden—especially for the elderly, women, and children.

Alongside the demand for the health camp, Malhotra also brought other pressing Gram Sabha issues to the attention of the DM. These included poor road conditions, irregular drinking water supply, lack of drainage system maintenance, and shortage of agricultural equipment.
District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey appreciated the initiative and stated that the administration is committed to resolving grassroots-level issues on a priority basis. He assured that a special health camp will be organized in Shailguth under the supervision of the health department after the panchayat elections, offering services such as blood pressure, sugar, heart-related, and general health check-ups.
He further mentioned that instructions would be issued to the concerned departments to ensure prompt improvement in roads, water supply, sanitation, and other essential services. The DM also emphasized that, being adjacent to the urban zone, Shailguth will be given priority under special development schemes.
Villagers and Panchayat representatives expressed satisfaction over the District Magistrate’s assurance and voiced hope that these plans will be implemented on the ground after the elections. Other Panchayat members stressed the importance of continued communication between the administration and the local governing bodies.
Now, the residents of Shailguth await the post-election period with hope, anticipating the organization of the promised health camp and the resolution of long-standing local issues—paving the way for a healthier, safer, and more convenient life.
