A crucial meeting was convened at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium ahead of the first phase of the Three-Tier Panchayat General Elections–2025. The meeting was presided over by District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey, focusing on election preparedness, security arrangements, and delegation of responsibilities.
Addressing the officials, DM Pandey emphasized that Panchayat elections are the foundation of grassroots democracy, and thus, every official involved has a significant role to play. He directed the zonal and sector magistrates to carry out their duties vigilantly, impartially, and transparently. Any negligence or bias will not be tolerated, he stated firmly.
He further underlined the importance of maintaining law and order during the voting process. Strict vigilance must be kept on elements attempting to disrupt elections, including the use of liquor or other illegal activities. Officials were instructed to rise above personal relationships, acquaintances, or societal pressures while performing their duties.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Devendra Pincha, while addressing the meeting, stated that a comprehensive plan for security arrangements at all polling stations has already been formulated. Any attempt to create disorder will be dealt with strictly. He also advised zonal and sector magistrates to maintain coordination with concerned police officers.
The following key points were shared during the meeting:
Voting will be held in 1,160 Gram Panchayats across two phases.
A total of 1,281 polling booths will be set up.
30 Zonal Magistrates and 97 Sector Magistrates have been deployed.
DM Pandey remarked that this is not just an election, but a festival of grassroots democracy, and it is the collective responsibility of all officials to ensure its smooth, transparent, and sensitive execution.
The meeting was attended by District Development Officer Santosh Pant, District Panchayati Raj Officer Rajendra Singh, all zonal and sector magistrates, zonal and sector police officers, and other concerned officials.
