Almora. Residents of Selakhola Ward were facing inconvenience due to an open drinking water pipeline near the Hookah Club area for quite some time. The exposed pipeline not only disrupted regular water supply but also posed a risk of accidents for pedestrians passing through the route. Taking quick cognizance of the issue after receiving complaints from the public, Ward Councilor Vandana Verma acted promptly and coordinated with Junior Engineer Mr. Bisht of the Jal Nigam to resolve the matter without delay.
Councilor Verma personally visited the site and inspected the situation closely. She directed the officials to immediately initiate the repair work and ensure that the drinking water pipeline is properly secured and covered to prevent any further damage or risk to the public. Acting swiftly, the Jal Nigam team repaired the line and restored smooth water supply in the area within a short span of time.
According to local residents, the problem worsened especially during the rainy season. Water leakage from the damaged pipeline often spread on the road, causing slippery conditions and making movement difficult, particularly for children and elderly citizens. At times, continuous water leakage also resulted in wastage of precious drinking water, adding to the concerns of the community. However, with Councilor Verma’s intervention, residents have now received much-needed relief from this persistent problem.
Appreciating Councilor Verma’s active role, the residents said she has always been dedicated to addressing public issues on priority. Her quick decision-making and committed attitude toward public welfare have ensured steady progress and development work in the ward. They further stated that she has been consistently visiting different areas of the ward to review civic facilities and take necessary action wherever required.
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Verma said that addressing citizens’ problems is her foremost responsibility. She assured that she would continue working with the same dedication to provide better facilities and a safer environment to every resident of the ward.
Officials and staff from the Jal Nigam were present during the repair work and executed the task efficiently. Residents also expressed gratitude towards the Jal Nigam team for their cooperation and timely response.
