Almora: The political controversy surrounding the purification issue has intensified, with Congress councillor Deepak Kumar launching a sharp attack on the BJP. He alleged that instead of seeking an impartial investigation into the matter, the BJP was opposing the Congress and attempting to suppress the issue.
Deepak Kumar said that if the BJP was genuinely concerned about the dignity and rights of the Scheduled Caste community, it should demand an investigation into the matter and action against those found responsible.
The Congress councillor also questioned what he described as contradictory statements by BJP leaders. According to Kumar, while some BJP leaders have allegedly spoken in support of those involved in the purification, the same side has also maintained that the people who carried out the act have no connection with the BJP.
Kumar said that such contradictory statements raise questions about the BJP’s position on the issue. He alleged that the party was trying to divert attention from the matter instead of supporting an investigation.
He demanded a fair and impartial inquiry so that the facts of the case can come to light. He further said that if anyone is found guilty after the investigation, strict action should be taken against them according to the law.
Kumar maintained that an issue concerning the dignity and rights of the Scheduled Caste community should not become a matter of political confrontation and that ensuring accountability and justice should be the priority.
