Residents urged to use door-to-door waste collection service instead of dumping garbage in the open
Almora: In a significant step towards improving sanitation, the Almora Municipal Corporation has removed the garbage bin located near Tripura Sundari Temple in Nanda Devi Ward. The site had long been a source of foul smell, unhygienic conditions, and inconvenience due to the presence of monkeys and stray cattle attracted by openly dumped waste.
Ward Councillor Arjun Singh Bisht ‘Cheema’ appealed to residents of the ward as well as people from neighboring areas not to dump garbage at the location anymore. He informed that the municipal waste collection vehicle will visit the spot every morning and evening at fixed timings, allowing residents to dispose of household waste directly into the vehicle.
He emphasized that cleanliness is a shared responsibility of both the Municipal Corporation and citizens. Public participation, he said, is essential for building a clean, healthy, and beautiful city.
Local residents appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to Mayor Ajay Verma and the Municipal Commissioner. They also requested the Municipal Corporation to ensure regular door-to-door waste collection so that the temple surroundings and the entire locality remain clean and hygienic.
The programme was attended by Councillors Amit Sah, Shyam Pandey, Abhishek Joshi, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Laxman Bhandari, Amin Basant Pandey, municipal officials, staff members, and a large number of local residents.
