Almora: Soban Singh Jeena University will organize its first convocation ceremony on June 18, 2026. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the university campus, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Satpal Singh Bisht shared important details regarding the event and preparations.
Addressing the media, Prof. Bisht said that the convocation ceremony will be organized in accordance with the approval and directions of the Hon’ble Chancellor. He stated that special emphasis has been laid on showcasing the rich culture, folk art, history, archaeology, spirituality, and heritage of Almora during the university’s first convocation ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor said the Chancellor has directed the university administration to ensure that the ceremony reflects the unique identity and traditions of the Kumaon region so that students and guests can connect with their cultural roots and feel proud of their heritage.
Prof. Bisht further informed that all committees formed for the convocation preparations are actively working on their responsibilities. Meetings of committee members and officials associated with the event will soon be organized to finalize the arrangements and execution plan.
He added that the university is not only connected with students, teachers, and employees, but also with the people living across the region under its jurisdiction. The university administration is continuously working to make the institution academically strong and recognized for excellence in higher education and research.
During the press conference, the university administration also announced that the main auditorium located near the Faculty of Education at the Soban Singh Jeena campus will now be named “Swami Vivekananda Auditorium.” The university’s first convocation ceremony will be held in this auditorium.
Before the press interaction, Registrar Dr. Devendra Singh Bisht welcomed media representatives and presented the detailed outline of the proposed convocation ceremony.
Several university officials and representatives were present during the press conference, including Finance Officer Amit Kumar Tripathi, Controller of Examinations Prof. Pankaj Kumar Shah, Dean Academic Prof. Anil Kumar Yadav, Sports Officer Liaqat Ali, Dr. Chandraprakash Phuloria, Vipin Joshi, Devendra Singh Pokharia, Media In-charge Dr. Lalit Chandra Joshi, Student Union President Lokesh Supyal, student representatives Rohit Kumalta, Ashish Joshi, Govind Mer, and Ishwar Singh.
