Public order in the municipal area of Almora is being disrupted due to unregulated construction activities and the negligent behavior of some residents. The situation has become particularly serious in Ward No. 17 (New Collectorate area). Addressing the issue, local Councillor Tulsi Devi met with Municipal Mayor Ajay Verma and submitted a written memorandum seeking immediate intervention.
In the memorandum, Councillor Tulsi Devi highlighted that construction materials such as sand, soil, and debris are being carelessly dumped along roadsides by certain individuals. This has not only led to traffic disruptions but also resulted in the blockage of several drainage culverts in the area. As a result, the locality is facing waterlogging issues, especially during the ongoing monsoon season, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
The councillor warned that if prompt and concrete action is not taken, the situation may worsen in the coming days, severely affecting public life.
In response, Mayor Ajay Verma acknowledged the legitimacy of the councillor’s concerns and assured immediate action. He emphasized that the municipal corporation is maintaining strict vigilance against such unauthorized activities and that strict action will be taken against anyone found tampering with public property or facilities.
