In recent days, residents of the Ranidhara area had raised concerns about frequent movement of wild animals near residential localities, creating fear among people and posing a potential risk to life and property. Taking these complaints seriously, the Forest Department conducted a site assessment and decided to install a cage at the Cement Kothi location as a precautionary measure. The primary objective of installing the cage is to safely capture any wild animal that may stray into human habitation and later relocate it to its natural habitat without causing harm.
Councillor Asha Bisht stated that the safety of residents is of utmost importance and appreciated the prompt action taken by the Forest Department. She emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of the area and urged the department to take additional steps if required in the future. Amit Sah “Monu” and Arun Pant also praised the initiative, stating that effective coordination between public representatives and the administration is essential to address such issues in a timely and sustainable manner.
Forest Department officials informed that the cage will be kept under regular surveillance. In case any wild animal is trapped, a trained rescue team will ensure its safe handling and release in a suitable forest area as per established wildlife protocols. The officials also appealed to local residents to remain cautious, especially during night hours, avoid unnecessary movement outdoors, and immediately inform the Forest Department if they notice any suspicious wildlife activity.
At the conclusion of the exercise, all present councillors and forest officials stressed the importance of mutual cooperation and public awareness in preventing human–wildlife conflict. Local residents welcomed the step and expressed hope that the installation of the cage would help reduce fear in the area and restore a sense of security, allowing daily life to return to normal.
