96 Teams from Eight Development Blocks Participate; Six Schools Secure First Positions in Different Categories
Haldwani: The senior-category competitions of the two-day District-Level Sanskrit Students’ Competition concluded enthusiastically at KVM Public School, Lamachaur, Haldwani, under the aegis of Uttarakhand Sanskrit Sansthan.
A total of 96 teams from eight development blocks of Nainital district participated in the event, showcasing their talents in Sanskrit language, literature and Indian cultural traditions.
The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. and featured competitions in Sanskrit drama, group singing, group dance, debate, extempore speech and shloka recitation. Students from various schools delivered impressive performances, attracting the attention of judges and guests.
Winners of Various Competitions
Mahadevagiri Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Haldwani, secured first place in Sanskrit drama. Durga Datt Kapilashrami Uttar Madhyama Vidyalaya, Haldwani, won the group singing competition, while Government Girls’ Inter College, Dauliya, secured first place in group dance.
In the Sanskrit debate competition, Government Inter College, Patlot, emerged as the winner. Government Inter College, Pashya, secured first place in extempore speech, while Shri Sanatan Dharma Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Railway Bazaar, Haldwani, topped the shloka recitation category.
The participants demonstrated their abilities in acting, singing, dancing, public speaking and Sanskrit recitation. Their performances reflected their enthusiasm for the language and their appreciation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
District Coordinator Hem Chandra Joshi conducted the programme. Co-Coordinator Dr. Rajendra Bhatt, along with teachers associated with Sanskrit education, judges, school teachers and participating students, attended the event.
Addressing the participants, District Coordinator Hem Chandra Joshi said that such competitions play an important role in developing students’ interest in Sanskrit while enhancing their creativity, confidence and stage presentation skills.
He emphasised that Sanskrit is not merely a language but an important foundation of India’s knowledge traditions, culture and heritage. He added that continuous efforts are necessary to connect younger generations with Sanskrit and encourage them to explore its rich literary and cultural traditions.
The competition provided students with a valuable platform to showcase their abilities at the district level and encouraged greater engagement with Sanskrit language and literature.
