Mayor Ajay Verma Inaugurates Competition for Khatyari Nyaya Panchayat and Almora Urban Area
Almora: A two-day sports competition under the Khel Mahakumbh programme for Khatyari Nyaya Panchayat and the Almora urban area began at the sports ground of PM Shri Atal Utkrisht Government Inter College, Almora.
The competition was inaugurated by Almora Mayor Ajay Verma. Addressing the participants, he said that sports play an important role in the overall development of students. He highlighted discipline, self-confidence, leadership and team spirit as some of the qualities developed through participation in sports.
He said that Khel Mahakumbh provides talented players from rural and urban areas with an opportunity to showcase their abilities. He wished all participants success and encouraged them to compete with true sportsmanship.
Principal Rajesh Bisht said that the event provides students with an opportunity to identify and develop their sporting talent. He added that the school remains committed to providing talented players with a supportive sporting environment and all possible assistance.
Students from various schools of Khatyari Nyaya Panchayat and the urban area are participating enthusiastically in the competition. Various sporting events will be organised over the two days.
Councillor Hem Tiwari, PTA President Madan Nagarkoti, SMC President Asha Dalakoti, Block Sports Coordinator Pankaj Tamta, Sunder Singh Rautela, Rajendra Singh Kanwal, Neeru Pandey, Sujata Sharma and Harish Bhatt, along with teachers, sports enthusiasts and other dignitaries, were present.
The programme was conducted by Bhuvan Singh Chilwal. The commencement of the competition generated enthusiasm among the participating players.
