Almora: A special drainage cleaning drive was carried out by the Almora Municipal Corporation at Badi Bageecha in Doobkiya Ward using a JCB machine to remove accumulated debris and restore smooth water flow. The initiative was taken following concerns raised by local residents, particularly in view of the ongoing monsoon season.
Ward Councillor Anju Bisht said that the drainage channel had been clogged with mud, debris and vegetation for a long time, creating the possibility of waterlogging during heavy rainfall. Responding to the issue, the Municipal Corporation deployed a JCB machine and completed the cleaning work, significantly improving the drainage system.
Councillor Bisht expressed her gratitude to the Mayor of Almora Municipal Corporation for extending prompt support to the public welfare initiative. She also thanked Sanitation Inspector Rajpal Pawar and the entire sanitation team for their dedicated efforts in successfully carrying out the operation.
She stated that timely cleaning of drains and culverts is essential during the rainy season to prevent flooding, maintain cleanliness and ensure public safety. Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that similar maintenance work would continue on a regular basis to keep the area clean and free from drainage-related problems.
