Almora: The growing monkey menace in Nanda Devi Ward of Almora has once again raised concerns among residents. On Thursday, local resident Manoj Joshi was attacked and bitten by a group of monkeys, leaving him injured.
According to local sources, Joshi was on his way when a troop of monkeys suddenly attacked him. Nearby residents rushed to his aid and managed to drive the monkeys away. He was later taken to a hospital, where he received first aid and was advised to undergo the required anti-rabies vaccination.
Residents say monkey attacks have become increasingly frequent in the ward. Besides attacking pedestrians, the animals often enter homes, damage property, and snatch food items, creating fear among children, senior citizens, and women.
Locals have urged the Forest Department and district administration to take immediate action by controlling the monkey population and relocating the animals to suitable forest areas. They warned that if timely measures are not taken, such incidents may become more common and pose a serious threat to public safety.
