Almora: Councillors of Jhijhad and Pandekhola wards submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, expressing strong resentment over the non-distribution of dustbins in their wards. They alleged that while dustbins are being distributed in several other wards, their areas have been ignored.
The memorandum stated that this unequal treatment has created dissatisfaction among residents of both wards. The councillors demanded that dustbins be distributed in Jhijhad and Pandekhola at the earliest to strengthen the city’s sanitation system.
The councillors also questioned the distribution process, stating that the work is being assigned to sanitation workers (Paryavaran Mitras), increasing their workload in addition to their regular duties. They argued that the agency or contractor awarded the tender for dustbin distribution should carry out the task instead, ensuring a systematic and efficient distribution process without burdening sanitation workers.
They urged the Municipal Commissioner to ensure equal treatment of all wards and immediately end the neglect of Jhijhad and Pandekhola by providing the required dustbins. The memorandum was submitted by Jhijhad Ward Councillor Amit Sah “Monu” and Pandekhola Ward Councillor Jyoti Sah.
