Almora, June 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Almora staged a protest at Chaughanpata on Tuesday against an alleged objectionable remark made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the demonstration, party workers burned the effigy of Dwarahat MLA Madan Bisht and expressed strong resentment over the statement.
The protest was led by BJP District President Mahesh Nayal, who stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi represents the aspirations and hopes of 140 crore Indians. He said that while political disagreements are a part of democracy, the use of abusive or derogatory language against public representatives is unacceptable.
Addressing the gathering, Nayal said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has achieved significant progress and earned global recognition. He alleged that such remarks reflect the frustration of opposition parties and undermine the dignity of democratic discourse.
Former MLA Kailash Sharma said that India’s growing stature on the global stage has unsettled political opponents. He emphasized that elected representatives should maintain decorum and respect in public life regardless of political differences.
BJP State Executive Member Ravi Rautela also condemned the alleged remark and said that party workers would continue to stand firmly in support of the Prime Minister and national interests. He demanded strict action against those responsible for making offensive comments.
A large number of BJP leaders, public representatives, and party workers participated in the protest. The demonstrators raised slogans in support of Prime Minister Modi and called for maintaining civility and dignity in political dialogue.
The protest concluded with party leaders reiterating their commitment to democratic values and urging political leaders across party lines to refrain from using objectionable language in public discourse.
