Discussion Held on Issues of Gram Sabha Shail Gooth and the Town
Almora. To highlight the fundamental problems of Gram Sabha Shail Gooth and the nearby town area, journalist and Gram Panchayat member Kapil Malhotra met Union Minister of State and Member of Parliament Ajay Tamta on Friday. During the courtesy meeting, Malhotra presented several key local issues in detail. The Union Minister listened attentively and assured that appropriate steps would be taken to resolve them.
The meeting was also attended by Almora Mayor Ajay Verma and Minister of State Ganga Bisht. On this occasion, Kapil Malhotra pointed out the poor condition of the municipal road adjoining the boundary of Gram Sabha Shail Gooth, which has become a constant problem for villagers. He said that due to the deteriorated state of the road, not only daily commuting but also economic and social activities of the local people were being severely affected.
Mayor Ajay Verma assured that the Municipal Corporation would find a permanent solution to this issue. He promised that the damaged road along the Gram Sabha boundary would be repaired soon to provide relief to the public.
Women-related issues also raised
During the meeting, several issues concerning women of the Gram Sabha were also discussed. Kapil Malhotra stressed the need to implement women empowerment and employment-oriented schemes at the village level. Responding to this, Minister of State Ganga Bisht said that women’s development is among the government’s top priorities. She assured that special self-employment and livelihood-related schemes would be launched in Shail Gooth Gram Sabha to support local women.
Ganga Bisht further added that all major government schemes will be ensured to reach villages so that rural women can become self-reliant. She praised Kapil Malhotra for raising these concerns, saying that when journalists and public representatives bring village issues to the forefront, it positively impacts the government’s functioning.
Other Gram Sabha issues presented
On this occasion, Kapil Malhotra also highlighted other pressing issues of the Gram Sabha, including shortage of drinking water, road repairs, education and healthcare facilities, as well as sanitation-related challenges. He said that villagers have been facing these fundamental problems for a long time, and immediate administrative action is required.
Union Minister Ajay Tamta emphasized that balanced development of both rural and urban areas is his priority. He assured that the problems of Shail Gooth and the entire district would be resolved with joint efforts of the central and state governments. Tamta also appealed for cooperation from local representatives and the public.


Hope among the people
Following the meeting, the villagers and town residents expressed hope that their long-pending issues would now be addressed. Locals appreciated the efforts of journalist Kapil Malhotra, saying he had taken the concerns of common people to the right platform.
The meeting concluded with mutual dialogue and a shared commitment towards development. All representatives affirmed that the problems of Shail Gooth Gram Sabha and the town would be resolved on priority.
