Over 350 players from across the state to participate, including national and international level shuttlers
Almora. The 24th Uttarakhand State Junior and Senior Badminton Championship will be held from July 29 to August 3 at the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Indoor Sports Stadium in Almora. The championship is being jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Badminton Association, District Administration, and the Almora District Badminton Association.
Addressing a press conference, B.S. Mankoti, Secretary of the Uttarakhand State Badminton Association, informed that over 350 selected players from all districts of Uttarakhand will participate in this prestigious championship. Several national and international-level players are also expected to compete in the tournament.
He said that the championship aims to provide a strong platform for players at the state level, helping them advance to national-level tournaments. Matches will be held in categories including Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, and Senior (Men and Women).
Mankoti further added that the winners and runners-up of this tournament will get the opportunity to represent Uttarakhand in upcoming national championships, helping boost the state’s presence on the national sports stage.
Preparations for the event are in the final stages. Adequate arrangements have been made for players’ accommodation, meals, medical aid, and security at the venue. The district administration is extending full support to ensure the success of the event.
Officials from the Almora Badminton Association, including the President, Secretary, and coaching staff, were also present at the press meet. They highlighted Almora’s previous experience in hosting state-level tournaments successfully and mentioned that the town’s climate and sports infrastructure are ideal for such competitions.
Through this championship, Almora is once again set to emerge as a hub for major sporting events in the state. The organizing committee has invited local sports enthusiasts to attend and support the players in large numbers.
