India-Nepal Joint Awareness Programme Held on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

SSB and APF unite efforts along the border to combat drug abuse and smuggling

Marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the 20th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sitamarhi, under the leadership of Commandant Girish Chandra Pandey, organized a joint awareness campaign in coordination with Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) at various India-Nepal border check-posts.

The awareness programmes were conducted at the following border locations:

1. Bairgania – Gaur


2. Kundwa Chainpur – Maholiya


3. Muradih – Fhanera


4. Bahera – Madhubani


5. Madhopur – Bara



Educating Border Communities
Officials from both SSB and APF addressed local residents, shedding light on the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug abuse. The initiative focused on sensitizing border populations—particularly youth—about the dangers of addiction and the need to stay away from illegal cross-border smuggling activities.

Public Appeal and Community Participation Encouraged
Speakers emphasized that eliminating drug abuse is not only a governmental responsibility but also a societal one, urging all sections of the community to join hands in the fight against narcotics.

Strengthening Bilateral Coordination
Concluding the programme, both forces reaffirmed their commitment to continue working jointly and consistently on this critical issue. The initiative not only succeeded in raising awareness among border communities but also played a vital role in strengthening cooperation and goodwill between the two border security agencies.
