In a major initiative under the directives of the Hon’ble Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital and the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, a large-scale cleanliness and public awareness campaign was successfully organized on Monday across Almora, Ranikhet, Dwarahat, and Bhikiyasain. The event was conducted under the guidance of the District Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Almora.
In Almora, the campaign was carried out from 7 AM to 10 AM at Simkuni Ground, Khatyari, and surrounding areas. The event commenced with a cleanliness pledge, which was taken by judicial officers, lawyers, police personnel, officials from various departments, students, citizens, and para-legal volunteers.
Following the pledge, para-legal volunteers performed street plays and folk songs to spread awareness about cleanliness. Subsequently, a public awareness rally was taken out under the leadership of the District Judge, starting from Simkuni Ground and passing through College Road, New Indira Colony, and concluding at Lower Mall Road. The rally featured slogans and songs to inspire the public toward cleanliness and hygiene.
As part of the campaign, four dedicated teams were formed. These teams conducted cleanliness drives from Simkuni Ground to Indira Colony, the Stadium, College Road, Karnataka Khola, and Base Hospital, collecting nearly 1,000 kg of waste, which was later disposed of by the Municipal Corporation.
Prominent officials present at the event included Family Court Judge Neena Agrawal, DLSA Secretary Shachi Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate Daya Ram, Civil Judge (SD) Ravindra Dev Mishra, and Judicial Magistrate Ravi Arora. Also in attendance were Chief Development Officer Ramjeesharan Sharma, District Development Officer S.K. Pant, DPRO Rajendra Singh, CO G.D. Joshi, Kotwal Yogesh Upadhyay, and Additional Chief Officer of the District Panchayat Rajesh Kumar, among others.
The program concluded with a tree plantation drive near the court premises, conveying a strong message of environmental conservation alongside cleanliness.
