Organized by Mehra Sports Cricket Academy at H.N.B. Stadium
Almora: The Third Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament began with much enthusiasm at the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Stadium in Almora. The tournament has been organized by Mehra Sports Cricket Academy, a prominent sports body in the region.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Government Medical College, Almora and the Civil Forest Department, Almora. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, former State Minister Mr. Gopal Singh Jeena, who extended his best wishes to all participating players after a formal introduction ceremony with both teams.
Dignitaries Graced the Occasion
Prominent BJP leader Salman Ansari attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Other notable attendees included organizers Kailash Mehra, Harish Kanwal, Bhavana Pandey, Tara Jeena, Mahipal Singh, along with players from both teams and several members of the organizing committee.
Speaking at the event, Kailash Mehra stated that the primary objective of the tournament is to provide a platform for departmental players and to promote a vibrant sports culture in the region. He mentioned that several departmental teams are scheduled to participate in the coming days.
