Almora: In a determined effort to maintain cleanliness and order in the city, the Almora Municipal Corporation conducted a sweeping inspection campaign in the Sher Bazaar, Chowk Bazaar, and Lala Bazaar areas. The crackdown targeted illegal encroachments, littering, and the use of banned single-use plastic.
During the operation, fines were imposed on 9 shopkeepers/traders, collecting a total of Rs 6200 in cash penalties. The action was carried out in the presence of Tax Inspectors Dheeraj Kandpal and Pawan Pandey, along with Chief Sanitation Inspector Lakshman Singh, and staff members Manoj Mishra, Ramesh Joshi, Ashok, and Ram Singh.
The Municipal team urged traders to refrain from illegal encroachments, discontinue the use of single-use plastic, and maintain cleanliness around their establishments. They also advised the regular use of dustbins and to dispose of waste only through authorized municipal waste collection vehicles.
The campaign also extended to Mall Road and L.R. Sah Road, with officials stating that such inspection drives will continue in the future to ensure a clean and disciplined city environment.
