Almora : With the long-awaited development work on the Kwarab Danger Zone finally underway, political tensions have flared as Congress leaders attempt to claim credit for the project. Senior BJP leader and former State Minister Bittu Karnatak issued a strong statement accusing Congress of indulging in petty politics and failing to deliver any real development on their own.
Karnatak emphasized that the multi-crore project has commenced under the supervision of Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, who is personally monitoring the progress. Despite this, Congress leaders, including the Almora MLA and party officials, are planning a protest at the District Magistrate’s office on May 22, in a bid to showcase the project as a result of their pressure tactics.
He accused Congress of staging a “drama” aimed at misleading the public by posting pictures on social media claiming that the project began due to their intervention. “The educated people of Almora can see through this. They know the work started because of BJP’s efforts,” Karnatak said.

He further alleged that a similar situation occurred in Phalsima, where a rural road project was sanctioned through persistent efforts of the BJP state leadership, backed by written communication and official approval under the “Mera Gaon – Meri Sadak” scheme. Yet, the local Congress MLA attempted to take credit by posting inauguration pictures online.
Karnatak warned that Congress has become irrelevant in Uttarakhand politics and is resorting to misleading the public. “The public no longer accepts false claims. That’s why BJP continues to gain trust both at the state and national levels,” he asserted.
He also cited Congress’s recent defeat in municipal elections, saying that the party has failed to introspect and reform. “If they continue down this path, there will be self-proclaimed leaders left in Congress but no real workers on the ground,” Karnatak concluded.
